IVSedation
About IV Sedation
As part of our commitment to our patients, MINT dentistry is focused on making sure you are comfortable and relaxed during your visits. MINT dentistry in Humble, TX is pleased to offer intravenous (IV) sedation for patients getting oral surgery. IV sedation is a method that is reserved for use during invasive or longer procedures, like implant placement or surgical tooth extractions. IV sedation is an anti-anxiety medication that is delivered directly into your vein. The medication can help keep you relaxed and calm during oral surgery. Although you will be conscious, you will be so relaxed, it will seem like you were asleep. The levels of medication administered will be carefully watched all throughout your treatment to ensure you are comfortable, as well as safe. If you need IV sedation, we will explain how it will work during your consultation.
Best Candidates
Stronger methods, like IV sedation, are reserved for patients having oral surgery. To make sure you can safely receive IV sedation, your board-certified MINT dentist will review what medications you are taking and if you have a current or previous medical condition. We can also talk about other sedation methods offered at MINT dentistry before choosing the best method for your needs and goals. Our goal at MINT dentistry is to help you get the sexy teeth you desire while making sure you feel comfortable and safe.

What to Expect
To start your appointment, we will invite you to relax in a plush treatment chair in a procedure room. Our team will provide you with a pair of stylish MINT dentistry sunglasses and Beats headphones. As soon as you are settled in, we will insert a small needle in your arm so the medicine can begin to work. You should begin to feel comfortable quickly. Once the sedation is in full effect, your team will perform your oral surgery. When the surgery is complete, we will remove the IV and you should begin to wake up.
Treatment Aftercare
The medication will still be in your system so you should not drive for a minimum of 24 hours after IV sedation. You should plan to have a responsible adult to take care of you. When you get home, we recommend you relax and drink lots of water as most patients feel sleepy the remainder of the day. In some cases, you could become nauseous or experience memory loss. These side effects are common and should diminish in a day or two. Adverse reactions after IV sedation are rare, but if your side effects feel unusual or don't go away, you should contact our office immediately.
The MINT Commitment
Depending on many factors, IV sedation may be partially covered if you have dental insurance. Prior to receiving sedation, our financial team will speak to your insurance company to confirm the benefits of your policy. MINT dentistry also provides financial planning and payment options. The team at MINT dentistry believes that undergoing dental procedures should be a positive experience. If you do not have dental insurance or are concerned about the cost of sedation, ask about the MINT Discount Plan and other ways we can help make your care easier to afford.
